Bottled in 2006 this is the 1st edition of the Bruichladdich Waves 7 Year Old. This whisky is a single malt Scotch whisky from Islay that showcases the distillery’s experimental wood-finishing style. Bottled at 46% ABV without chill-filtration or added coloring, it spent most of its maturation in American oak bourbon casks before receiving a secondary finish in Madeira casks. The nose opens with vibrant maritime sea spray, crisp green apples, lemon zest, and toasted vanilla, complemented by a soft red-berry undertone. On the palate, a creamy, mouth-coating texture yields flavors of sweet malt, honey, citrus peel, and poached pears, balanced by a subtle vinous dryness, gentle oak spice, and a hint of salinity. It closes with a crisp, refreshing finish driven by citrus, lingering wine tannins, and a touch of oceanic brine.
