Ardbeg Alligator Exclusive Committee Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 70cl, 51.2% ABV

Released in 2011 exclusively for Ardbeg Committee members, the Ardbeg Alligator Exclusive Committee Release gets its fierce name from the intense “level 4” charring applied to its virgin American white oak casks. This aggressive burning process causes the wood staves to crack and fracture into a scaly pattern that closely resembles alligator skin. The resulting flavor profile balances classic coastal smoke and medicinal peat with unexpected, rich undertones of dark chocolate, sweet barbecue sauce, ginger, and heavy vanilla cream.

Situated on the south coast of the Isle of Islay, Ardbeg use malted barley in their whisky which is sourced from maltings in Port Ellen.
